Ever since we brought a Ninja Slushi machine into our home, we’ve had so much fun experimenting with different flavors of slushy.

My kids have had a penchant for slushies from Sonic or local convenience stores for a while, but now we can make our own at home–and it costs a lot less!

Since we’d already made Ninja Creami Shirley Temple ice cream, we decided to use some of the leftover ingredients to make Ninja Slushi Shirley Temple slush.

The result was a cool, refreshing slush that’s perfect for a hot day! It feels special (especially with the cherry on top!), but couldn’t be easier to make.

Needless to say, it didn’t last long around here!

Shirley Temple Slushie

To make a Shirley Temple, you typically only need three ingredients: Sprite (or other lemon lime soda), grenadine syrup, and Maraschino cherries.

So that’s what we used for our slushes!

But since you can’t put solids into the Ninja Slushi machine, we saved the cherries for garnishes when we dispensed individual servings.

The nice thing about the Ninja Slushi is that you don’t have to add any ice, so your slush doesn’t get watered down. The machine just freezes the liquid you put into it, so the flavor is preserved nicely.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • The length of time it takes for the mixture to freeze will depend in part on the temperature of the liquid. I prefer to use refrigerated liquids, as they freeze faster.
  • When the machine beeps, if the mixture isn’t as thick as you’d like, you can press the up button to increase the freezing level of the mixture by a notch or two. It will then continue churning and freezing for a bit longer, making the mixture thicker.
