Cherry limeade slushes are one of those frozen treats that have stood the test of time!

They first popped up at soda fountains in the late 1800s, but it wasn’t until Sonic made them famous that they became the refreshing treat we all know and love today.

There’s just something about the sweet cherry flavor paired with the tangy lime that makes it the perfect drink for any occasion.

Whether you’re a kid or an adult, cherry limeade slushes are a classic favorite.

They’re fun to sip on during warm afternoons, and let’s be honest, they’re hard to resist when that sweet and tart combo hits just right.

And when it comes to texture, there’s no better way to enjoy it than with a thick, icy slush—just like the ones from Sonic!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • If the slush is not as thick as you’d like when the machine beeps to signal it’s ready, you can press the up arrow button to increase the freezing level a notch or two. This will result in the mixture freezing more, which will make it thicker.
  • The speed at which the mixture freezes will depend on your preference for texture as well as the temperature of the ingredients. I like to start with refrigerated liquids, as they freeze a bit faster.
