My kids are big fans of the blue raspberry slush available at Sonic.

There’s just something about the fun color, the refreshing sweetness, and the icy cold temperature that make it the perfect treat for a warm day.

But we don’t go to Sonic very often, so when I purchased a Ninja Slushi machine, I knew it would need to be one of the first flavors I made.

The resulting blue raspberry slush was not only super easy to make, but it had a great flavor and didn’t last long in our home!

To make your own copycat blue raspberry slush at home, you only need three ingredients (plus water), and it’s ready in about 30 minutes!

Making a Blue Raspberry Slush in the Ninja Slushi Machine

If you aren’t familiar with the Ninja Slushi machine, it’s an appliance that churns and freezes liquid into slushie consistency.

In the past, to make a slushy at home, you’d generally blend juice or syrup with ice, to make a cold drink.

The downside to that process is that the ice waters down the flavors, and you can’t generally get the super-fine texture of a slushy.

But with the Ninja Slushi, the liquid itself is what gets frozen, so it’s not watered down at all!

To make this blue raspberry slush, I turned to classic Kool-Aid powder.

When combined with sugar, cold water, and raspberry extract, it was an easy way to get the flavor and texture we wanted.

Mix the liquid. First, you’ll combine the Kool-Aid powder and sugar in a large liquid measuring cup. I recommend using a container with a spout.

Then, add in the cold water and raspberry extract, stirring to combine.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • The raspberry extract is technically optional, but I do think it gives more flavor to the berry Kool-Aid. I used this raspberry extract from Amazon.
  • The amount of time it takes for your liquid to freeze will depend partly on the temperature of the water. I use cold water to help it freeze a little faster, and it took mine about 30 minutes to achieve slush consistency.
