My family loves to visit a local apple orchard every fall.

We pick bushels of apples and enjoy the many offerings of the orchard’s concession stand–my favorites being fried apple pies and the apple cider slushes.

So once I started experimenting with my Ninja Slushi machine, I knew one of the first varieties I had to make would be an apple cider slush.

And let me just say, the final product didn’t last long in our house!

This Ninja Slushi apple cider slush recipe combines the classic flavors of a comforting mug of apple cider, but in a cold and refreshing treat reminiscent of our orchard favorites.

As a bonus, it’s SUPER easy to make, which means we’re likely to be whipping up batches of this slush all year long!

Ninja Slushi Apple Cider Slushie Recipe

One of my favorite things about the Ninja Slushi machine is the fact that the liquid doesn’t get blended up with ice cubes, like most blender-made slushies are.

Instead, the liquid is churned and frozen with an auger, so the slushie is never watered down.

And when you drink it, you’re not drinking the syrup while chunks of ice get left behind.

To make this apple cider slush, I mixed store-bought apple cider with a few extra ingredients, just to give it a hint more flavor for my preference.

Super simple!

Mix ingredients. To start, combine the apple cider, cinnamon, cardamom, and vanilla extract in a liquid measuring cup with a spout.

Whisk until the spices are incorporated well, then pour the mixture into the opening at the top of the machine.

Freeze. Close the opening on the machine, then power on the machine and press the Slush button.

Allow the mixture to be churned and frozen, until the desired consistency is reached or the machine beeps to signal its completion.

Pull the lever on the machine to dispense the slushy into a glass. Serve and enjoy!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • The amount of time it takes for your liquid to freeze will depend partly on the temperature of the water. I use cold apple cider to help it freeze a little faster, and it took mine about 30 minutes to achieve slush consistency.
  • If the slush isn’t as thick as you’d like when the machine signals its completion, you can press the up button to increase the freeze level by a notch or two, which will allow it to churn longer and become a bit thicker.
  • If you don’t have ground cardamom on hand, you can omit it. I once had a cardamom apple cider at a coffee shop that I loved, so I now add it. But it’s optional!

Warmly spiced and refreshingly sweet, this apple cider slush made in the Ninja Slushi is the perfect treat for fall!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Additional Time 30 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 cups apple cider, cold
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a large liquid measuring cup with a spout. Whisk until combined well.
  2. Pour the mixture through the opening in the top of the NInja Slushi machine. Close the opening, power on the machine, and press the Slush button.
  3. Allow the mixture to churn and freeze until the desired consistency is achieved or the machine beeps to signal its completion.
  4. Pull the lever to dispense the slush into glasses and serve.

Notes

  • I prefer to mix the ingredients in a liquid measuring cup with a spout, as that makes it easier to pour it into the machine.
  • The length of time it takes for the mixture to freeze will depend on the temperature of the liquid. I prefer to use refrigerated liquids, as they freeze faster.
  • When the machine beeps, if the mixture isn't as thick as you'd like, you can press the up button to increase the freezing level of the mixture by a notch or two. It will then continue churning and freezing for a bit longer, making the mixture thicker.
  • If you don't have ground cardamom on hand, you can omit it. I once had a cardamom apple cider at a coffee shop, and I loved it so much that I always add it to my cider now. But it's not an absolute necessity.
