If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter books and films, you’ll know about the classic beverage frequently enjoyed by your favorite characters: Butterbeer.

But it’s kind of hard to know what it tastes like unless you get to try it yourself!

My family has enjoyed this refreshing beverage at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando, at Harry Potter New York, as well as at The Making of Harry Potter Tour at the Warner Brothers Studio in Leavesden, England.

So it’s safe to say we are BIG fans of the drink!

Many locations also sell the beverage as a slushy, known as frozen Butterbeer, which is a cool, refreshing treat that’s perfect for a hot day.

Naturally, when I began experimenting with frozen drinks in my Ninja Slushi machine, I knew I needed to create a frozen Butterbeer.

I’ve already shared my recipe for Ninja Creami Butterbeer ice cream, which is delish, but if you want more of a drinkable slushie, then you need to try this Ninja Slushi Butterbeer slush!

It’s easy to make and tastes fantastic–especially with the creamy foam on top!

Making Frozen Butterbeer in the Ninja Slushi Machine

To keep things simple, I used just a few ingredients for the slushy itself: cream soda, caramel extract, and butter extract.

This provides the lightly sweet, warm flavor Butterbeer is known for.

Then I whipped up a butterscotch cream to top the drink with, which takes it to the next level! I would not recommend skipping the cream–it’s just so good.

The slushy is churned up perfectly in the Ninja Slushi machine, within about 30 minutes, so you don’t have to wait very long to enjoy this treat made famous by The Leaky Cauldron, The Three Broomsticks, and Hog’s Head.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I used regular A&W Cream Soda and Smuckers Butterscotch Sundae Syrup topping.
  • I purchased caramel extract and butter extract from Amazon, because my local grocery store didn’t have them in stock.
  • My Butterbeer mug is a souvenir mug from our trip to London when we visited The Making of Harry Potter Tour at Warner Brothers Studio, but you can get this Butterbeer themed mug on Amazon.
  • If the slush is not as thick as you’d like when the machine beeps to signal it’s ready, you can press the up arrow button to increase the freezing level a notch or two. This will result in the mixture freezing more, which will make it thicker.
  • The speed at which the mixture freezes will depend on your preference for texture as well as the temperature of the ingredients.
