When Christmas rolls around, one of my favorite drinks to have on hand is eggnog.
I have to admit I don’t normally drink it by itself.
Instead, I add it to hot coffee or make all things eggnog (especially desserts!), from eggnog cake to eggnog pie to eggnog ice cream.
But one thing I’ve recently started making is an eggnog shake!
Not only is it super simple to make, but the result is a rich and creamy shake that’s full of eggnog flavor and that perfect hint of spice.
This Ninja Creami eggnog milkshake makes a fantastic holiday treat that can be easily customized based on your dietary needs, or a great way to use up that leftover eggnog before it goes bad!
Making an Eggnog Milkshake in the Ninja Creami
If you’ve never used the Ninja Creami’s milkshake function before, you’ll be surprised at how easy it is.
I’ve already shared how to make a Ninja Creami chocolate milkshake, a Nutella milkshake, a pistachio milkshake, a banana milkshake, a pumpkin pie milkshake, an Oreo milkshake, and a strawberry milkshake.
But the basic premise is that you add some ice cream and some liquid (typically milk).
Then, if you want anything else to be blended into the frozen concoction, such as cookie pieces or berries, you add those before processing the pint.
This is one way the milkshake function differs from the ice cream function!
The Ninja Creami will then blend everything together, making it nice and creamy, and breaking any chunks into very small pieces.
You can adjust the consistency of your milkshake by tweaking the amounts of ice cream and milk.
I prefer a fairly thick milkshake, so I generally use about 1 3/4 cups of ice cream and 1/2 cup of liquid.
In this case, I’m using eggnog instead of milk!
You are welcome to use homemade eggnog, but I never make my own eggnog (too much work to deal with raw eggs and such).
Instead, I use store-bought eggnog. It’s so easy to just grab some from my local grocery stores when I’m shopping this time of year.

How to Make it:
(Full printable recipe card is available below)
Prepare the ice cream base. To start, you’ll add some vanilla ice cream to a Ninja Creami pint container, followed by ground nutmeg.
Then, pour the eggnog into the container as well.
Spin. Place the pint container into the outer bowl and secure the outer bowl lid.
Place bowl apparatus into the Ninja Creami ice cream maker and select the Milkshake function.
Allow the process to complete.
Serve. Remove the outer bowl from the machine and take off the lid.
You can enjoy the milkshake right out of the pint if you’d like.
Or, you can pour it into serving glasses if you prefer!
I like to top mine with a good swirl of whipped cream and a sprinkling of ground cinnamon.
This is such a simple way to satisfy your sweet tooth during the Christmas season!
Notes and Adaptations:
- Feel free to make this dairy-free if needed. You can use almond milk ice cream or other non-dairy variety. I have a great recipe for dairy-free vanilla ice cream (you can make it with oat milk, almond milk, or any non-dairy milk) that would work well in this milkshake, then of course add in dairy-free egg nog.
- Want to up the eggnog flavor? Use Ninja Creami eggnog ice cream instead of vanilla!
- Feel free to add some protein powder before blending if you want to increase the protein content.
- For a boozy milkshake with a holiday twist, you could try adding a shot of spiced rum, bourbon, or brandy.
