During the spring and summer months, I love enjoying beverages and frozen treats that incorporate both fruity and floral flavors.
If you’ve ever been to Epcot at Disney World during the International Flower and Garden Festival, you may know all about their classic violet lemonade drink, which is perfect for sipping in the Florida sun.
I’ve been making a homemade version of the drink for quite some time, but I recently decided to craft a version that could be made in my Ninja Creami machine.
The result is a deliciously refreshing sorbet that pairs the sweet and tangy flavors of lemonade with the subtle floral tones of violet!
It’s one of the best lemon recipes for the Ninja Creami, if you ask me.
Violet Lemonade Italian Ice
Since sorbet and Italian ice are really quite similar but have different origins (sorbet originated in France and Italian ice originated in Italy), you could really call this dessert by either name.
Freezing the lemonade mixture means that it’s just the sweetened juice of the fruit that’s included, rather than chunks of fruit that can sometimes be found in sorbet.
My kids call it a slushie, but no matter what you call it, it’s delicious!
All you need is three ingredients–lemons, water, and violet syrup!
And although the violet syrup adds a hint of purple color, you can always add a couple of drops of purple food coloring for a more concentrated hue.
I added three drops and I think it looks so pretty!

How to Make Violet Lemonade Sorbet in the Ninja Creami
It’s really easy to make violet lemonade sorbet (or Italian ice) in the Ninja Creami!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Lemons
- Le Sirop de Monin Violet Syrup
- Water
How to Make it:
Mix the base. In a small bowl or large measuring cup, combine lemon juice, violet syrup, and water. Stir well.
If desired, add 2-3 drops of purple food coloring for a more concentrated hue.
Freeze. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container and close the lid. Place on a level surface in your freezer and freeze for at least 24 hours.
Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the pint into the outer bowl apparatus and secure the outer bowl lid.
Place the outer bowl into the Ninja Creami ice cream machine and lock into place. Press the Sorbet button and allow the cycle to complete.
Re-spin if needed. After the cycle completes, remove the pint and check the texture of the sorbet.
If it seems somewhat crumbly, you can reinsert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin button to process again.
Now it’s ready to scoop and serve.
This makes a delicious way to cool off on a hot day!
Notes and Adaptations:
- Some models of Ninja Creami machines have an Italian Ice function, but mine does not. I use the sorbet function, but I imagine the Italian Ice function would work just fine if you have that on your machine.
- Feel free to adjust the sweetness if you need to, by adding a bit more syrup.
- I use Le Sirop de Monin brand violet syrup, which you can get here on Amazon.
