Do you remember hot summer days of childhood, when NOTHING tasted better than a popsicle?

We would enjoy them outside, with rivulets of melted syrupy fruit juice dripping down our wrists.

In our home, we typically had three flavors on hand from the grocery store–orange, grape, and cherry.

Now that I have kids of my own, we’ve enjoyed experimenting with so many unique flavors of frozen treats in our Ninja Creami ice cream maker!

So I thought it would be fun to try recreating the flavors of my childhood, but in sorbet form.

This Ninja Creami grape sorbet is full of yummy grape flavor, and it’s super easy to make, thanks to a secret ingredient!

It’s on our list of the best Ninja Creami sorbet recipes, and for good reason. 🙂

Making Grape Sorbet in the Ninja Creami Using Jell-O® Gelatin

That’s right, this grape sorbet is made using grape gelatin mix!

After trying several varieties of Ninja Creami ice cream made with pudding mix, I knew I had to give gelatin mix a try, too.

Not only does the Jell-O® mix give it plenty of grape flavor, but it also lends sweetness to the sorbet. And it couldn’t be easier!

I’ve made a few other varieties of Ninja Creami recipes using Jell-O® gelatin, including Ninja Creami pina colada ice cream, Ninja Creami orange sorbet, Ninja Creami strawberry jello sorbet, and Ninja Creami lime sherbet.

It’s become one of my favorite ways to change up ice cream flavors.

Plus, you can easily grab a few boxes of gelatin to keep in your pantry for whenever the craving strikes.

It’s sort of like being able to create your own Italian ice whenever you want!

How to Make Ninja Creami Grape Sorbet

It’s very simple to make this easy 5-minute grape sorbet recipe!

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Apple juice (or grape juice)
  • Grape gelatin mix, such as Jell-O® brand

How to Make it:

(Full printable recipe card is available below)

Dissolve the gelatin. Pour one cup of juice into a microwave-safe bowl or large measuring cup. Microwave for about 90 seconds, or until very hot and near-boiling.

Add the powdered grape gelatin mix to the hot liquid and whisk until dissolved.

Add the remaining 3/4 cup of juice and whisk until incorporated. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, being careful not to exceed the max fill line.

Freeze. Place storage lid on the pint container and transfer it to a level surface in your freezer. Freeze for at least 24 hours until it’s a uniformly frozen block.

Process the sorbet. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid.

Place the pint into the machine’s outer bowl and secure the outer bowl lid assembly.

Place bowl assembly into the Ninja Creami machine and lock into place.

Select the Sorbet button. The motor base will start running, and it should take about 2 minutes for the cycle to complete.

Re-spin if needed. Remove the pint and use a spoon or butter knife to scrape down any icy areas remaining on the inside wall of the pint.

Use the Re-spin button to spin again. It should have a nice, creamy texture!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I have tried this without heating the juice first, and although the flavor is still fantastic, the texture is very slightly gritty, due to the sugar. If you don’t mind that (we didn’t!), you can skip the process of heating the juice. But if you want it nice and smooth, dissolving the gelatin in hot juice does the trick.
  • I have not tested this recipe with sugar-free gelatin mix.
  • I used apple juice, but you could use white grape or regular grape juice if you’d like.
  • You can use water instead of juice, if preferred, but I find the extra sweetness from the juice really enhances the grape flavor.
