If you ask me, donuts are one of the simple pleasures in life.

And although fancy flavors are all the rage at many donut shops right now, you just can’t beat a good quality glazed donut.

And if it’s a “Hot Now” glazed donut from Krispy Kreme? Even better!

After realizing how easy it was to make cereal milk ice cream in the Ninja Creami, I knew I wanted to try another flavor-infused treat.

That’s how this Ninja Creami donut ice cream was born!

Glazed donuts are steeped in hot milk and cream, infusing their flavor into the treat in the best kind of way.

Because the glazed donuts are what gives the ice cream its predominant flavor, you’ll want to choose a variety that you like.

I used Krispy Kreme, but you could also use Dunkin Donuts or the glazed variety from your favorite local doughnut shop.

Torn bits of donut are added to a hot cream and milk mixture, which allows the donuts to soften and release their flavor.

The process is similar to my Ninja Creami cereal milk ice cream.

So good!

The flavored mixture is what transforms into the donut ice cream, which is delightful!

And of course, I highly recommend garnishing with another donut. 😉

How to Make Ninja Creami Glazed Donut Ice Cream

It’s really easy to make this simple yet delicious treat.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Milk (I used 2%)
  • Heavy cream
  • Sugar
  • Glazed donuts
  • Vanilla extract

How to Make it:

(Full printable recipe card is available below)

Combine ingredients. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine milk, cream, sugar, torn pieces of glazed donuts, and vanilla extract.

Let the mixture heat and steep, stirring occasionally, for about 3-5 minutes, which will allow the flavor of the donuts to infuse the mixture.

You want the mixture to be steaming, not boiling. Then, remove from heat.

Blend. Use an immersion blender to blend the mixture until smooth.

Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container and let cool.

Freeze. Place lid on the pint container and transfer to a level surface in the freezer for at least 24 hours.

Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine.

Secure the outer bowl lid and transfer the outer bowl to the Ninja Creami machine, locking it into place.

Press the Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to complete.

Re-spin if needed. Remove the pint from the machine and check the ice cream’s consistency.

If the mixture is crumbly or powdery, insert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin button to cycle it again.

If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon or two of milk, then re-spin once more.

It should be nice and creamy after that. Serve and enjoy!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I found 2 tablespoons of sugar to be adequate, given the sweetness of the donuts. You can always taste the mixture before freezing and add more sweetener if needed.
  • If you don’t want to blend the softened donuts into the base, you can strain them out. This will result in slightly less volume, so you’ll end up with a bit less ice cream in the end.
  • Serve, garnishing with a donut, if desired!
