Years ago, I was first introduced to cake batter ice cream at a Cold Stone Creamery.

I was immediately hooked!

The flavor was just so rich and buttery, like the smell of a freshly baked yellow cake, but in ice cream form.

So naturally, I knew I had to figure out how to replicate the flavor in my Ninja Creami ice cream maker!

Luckily, all you need is a few simple ingredients to make it happen.

If cake batter is one of your favorite ice cream flavors, too, you’re going to love this easy Ninja Creami cake batter ice cream!

Cake Batter Flavored Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami

To make this ice cream base, I knew I didn’t want to make a gelato-style recipe that required egg yolks. I prefer to keep things simple!

For that reason, I turned to one of my favorite vanilla ice cream recipes, which uses instant vanilla pudding mix.

If you aren’t already familiar, there are several Ninja Creami recipes that use pudding mix! The pudding mix helps to serve as a binder and also provides sweetness and flavor.

Only this time, instead of vanilla extract, I used cake batter extract

This is an easy way to provide the flavor of cake batter, but without actually including cake mix or batter in the base.

Although I’ve used cake mix for my Ninja Creami red velvet cake batter ice cream, it does take a little bit of extra effort to heat the dry mix (for food safety reasons).

So I love the ease of simply adding a flavor extract! It makes this delicious treat a cinch to prepare.

Dissolve pudding mix. In a large liquid measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together the milk and pudding mix until the pudding mix is completely dissolved.

Add remaining ingredients. Add the heavy whipping cream and cake batter extract, whisking to incorporate.

Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, being careful not to exceed the max fill line.

Freeze. Close the lid on the pint container and transfer to a level surface in your freezer. Freeze for at least 24 hours.

Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine, securing the outer bowl lid.

Place bowl apparatus into the Ninja Creami machine and lock into place. Press the Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to complete.

Check consistency. Remove the pint from the machine and check the texture of the ice cream. If it appears a bit crumbly, you can insert it back into the machine and press the Re-spin button.

If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of milk and Re-spin again. It should now have a nice and creamy texture!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • Feel free to add 1/4 – 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract if you want to give the flavor of a vanilla cake.
  • You can add your favorite mix-in if you’d like–chocolate chips or sprinkles would be a great option.
  • If you’re enjoying leftovers of this ice cream, you may need to let the pint sit out at room temperature for 10 minutes or so in order to make it easier to scoop. Alternatively, you can process it again in your machine.
