Have you ever heard of Junket ice cream mix?

It’s a dry mix that’s been around for years and years, and is commonly used in an ice cream maker to whip up classic flavors, like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.

It gives ice cream the quintessential flavor you associate with an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, and it helps give a creamy texture, too.

Because I’ve experimented with making Ninja Creami recipes with pudding mix, I knew I wanted to try making a variety with Junket mix, too.

The result was a flavorful, creamy treat that was simply delightful!

If you haven’t tried making Ninja Creami vanilla Junket ice cream, you definitely need to give it a try.

It’s one of the easiest ways to make vanilla ice cream in the Ninja Creami, and it makes a fantastic base for mix-ins, too.

Junket Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami

When making Ninja Creami ice creams, we often need to add something to the milk and cream to help the mixture be silky smooth.

Some recipes call for cream cheese, some call for pudding mix, others call for guar gum.

But the nice thing about Junket mix is that it not only helps provide a creamy texture, but it also lends the sweetness and flavor for the ice cream.

So simple!

I’ve experimented with different amounts of the powdered Junket mix, and my favorite has been half a package.

I’ve found that using the whole package makes the ice cream too thick, while using less limits the flavor and affects the texture.

Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine and secure the outer bowl lid.

Transfer the outer bowl to the machine, locking it into place. Press the Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to complete.

Re-spin if needed. If the mixture looks a little crumbly after spinning, insert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin function.

If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of milk and Re-spin once more.

It should be nice and creamy!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I like to add a little vanilla extract to make the flavor stronger, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. The ice cream mix has some flavor on its own.
  • Unfortunately, this recipe cannot be made dairy-free, since Junket mix contains dairy. It is gluten-free, though!
  • If you can’t find Junket ice cream mix at your local grocery store, you can get it here on Amazon.
  • This ice cream works great as a Ninja Creami McFlurry or Blizzard!
