The Ninja Creami machine has taken the ice cream world by storm, and for good reason.

I love that you can create small batches of countless flavors and varieties of frozen treats.

For instance, in the case of sorbets, you can use canned fruits, fresh fruit, canned pie filling, etc.

So when I recently had several ripe kiwi that I needed to use up before leaving town on vacation, I instantly knew what I would do with them.

And that’s how this Ninja Creami kiwi sorbet was born!

It’s on my list of the best Ninja Creams sorbet recipes, and once you try it, I think you’ll see why.

Keys to Making Fresh Kiwi Sorbet in the Ninja Cream

To make this kiwi sorbet, I started with good, ripe kiwi.

Because there are so few ingredients in this recipe, you definitely want to use kiwi that’s ripe.

If you’re not sure how to tell if a kiwi is ripe or not, you can gently press on it. If it has some “give” to it and is slightly soft, it’s ripe.

If it’s hard, it isn’t ripe and definitely won’t taste as good.

I pureed the kiwi in my food processor, but you could also use a blender for that step.

Then I added some sugar and lime juice, which gives plenty of sweetness and enhances the flavor a bit.

And since there’s no milk products in this recipe, it’s an easy dairy-free Ninja Creami recipe.

How to Make Ninja Cream Kiwi Sorbet

It’s super simple to make this delicious treat!

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Fresh, ripe kiwis
  • Sugar
  • Lime juice (optional)

How to Make it:

Puree the kiwi. To start, you’ll need to peel and coarsely chop your kiwi fruit. Add the chunks of fruit to a food processor (or blender), then pulse to puree the fruit.

Depending on the size of your food processor or blender, you may need to do this in batches.

Add sugar. Stir sugar into the kiwi puree, mixing well to combine. You can start with 1/4 cup of sugar and then give it a taste to see if it needs the extra 1/4 cup.

I used the full 1/2 cup of sugar, because I wanted the sorbet to be on the sweeter side.

Because kiwi is an acidic fruit, adding sugar helps to balance the taste (though it doesn’t actually do anything to neutralize the acid, it does enhance the flavor).

Also keep in mind that the final product will taste slightly less sweeter after freezing, so adjust accordingly.

Add lime juice, if using. Lime juice is optional here, but I had some on hand and added it because I love how citrus can “brighten” the flavors of other fruits.

If you don’t have any, don’t worry—it isn’t a necessity.

Freeze. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container and secure the lid.

Place the pint on a level surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.

Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami and secure the lid.

Lock the outer bowl into the Ninja Creami machine and press the Sorbet button.

Check consistency. After the Sorbet function is complete, remove the pint from the machine and check the consistency of the sorbet.

If it appears crumbly, you can insert the pint back into the machine and press the Re-spin button.

If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of water to the sorbet and Re-spin again.

Notes and Adaptations:

  • Be sure to use ripe kiwi for this recipe!
  • When adding sugar, feel free to taste and adjust to your liking. Keep in mind that the sorbet will be slightly less sweet after freezing than it was before freezing.
  • The green color of the kiwi dulls a bit after spinning. This is not because the kiwi browns when exposed to air (like apples), but because the kiwi seeds get ground up more finely during the processing, which gives a darker tint to the final product. It does not affect the taste!
  • If you’re enjoying leftovers, you may need to let the pint sit out at room temperature for 10 minutes or so to soften slightly before scooping.

Ninja Creami Kiwi Sorbet

Fresh kiwi sorbet is a fantastic way to enjoy the flavor of the classic summer fruit, but in frozen treat form!

Prep Time 7 minutes
Additional Time 1 day
Total Time 1 day 7 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8-10 ripe kiwi fruits (roughly 1 3/4 cups when pureed)
  • 1/4-1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 TBSP fresh lime juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the kiwi. Place kiwi pieces into a food processor or blender and puree. You want to end up with about 1 3/4 cups of puree.
  2. Add sugar to the puree and stir to combine. Depending on the sweetness of your fruit, 1/4 cup may be enough, or you may want to use closer to 1/2 cup. Taste and adjust, keeping in mind that the frozen sorbet will be slightly less sweet than the pre-frozen mixture.
  3. If using, stir in lime juice until incorporated.
  4. Transfer mixture to a Ninja Creami pint container and close the lid. Place on a level surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.
  5. Remove pint from freezer and take off lid. Place pint container into the outer bowl and secure the outer bowl lid. Lock outer bowl assembly into place in the Ninja Creami machine and press the Sorbet button.
  6. Once the cycle is complete, remove pint from machine and check consistency of the sorbet. If it appears crumbly, insert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin cycle to process it again.
  7. Scoop, serve, and enjoy!
