If you love cherry desserts as much as I do, you’re in for a treat with this easy Ninja Creami recipe!

One thing I love about the Ninja Creami is the ability to create desserts with such a wide variety of ingredients.

This is especially easy when it comes to fruity treats–from fresh to frozen to canned, it’s just so simple to make loads of different flavor options.

If you ask me, the best Ninja Creami cherry recipes are the ones that are easy to make and taste amazing.

I’ve used canned cherry pie filling to make cherry limeade sorbet, cherry chocolate ice cream, and cherry cheesecake ice cream, all of which are delicious.

But I wanted a slightly different flavor profile that included dark sweet cherries, because they’re just so dreamy!

That’s how this Ninja Creami dark sweet cherry sherbet was born.

It’s a little creamier than a sorbet, but not quite as heavy as an ice cream, making it the best of both worlds!

Making Dark Sweet Cherry Sherbet in the Ninja Creami

I decided to use canned dark sweet cherries in the base of this recipe, because they’re easy to find year-round, and they taste fantastic.

My canned cherries were packed in heavy syrup, which I found to be perfect for the level of sweetness I wanted.

If your cherries are packed in light syrup or juice, you may want to add some extra sugar or other sweetener.

Then I added some heavy cream to bring the richness and creaminess we associated with sherbet.

It was so good!

If you have fresh cherries available, I suggest making this Ninja Creami fresh cherry sorbet!

How to Make it:

(Full printable recipe card is located below)

Mix the base. Pour canned cherries and their syrup into a Ninja Creami pint container.

Add in the heavy cream, being careful not to exceed the max fill line, and stir to incorporate. If needed, push down any cherries to keep the surface as level as possible.

Freeze. Close the lid on the pint container and transfer to a level surface in your freezer. Freeze for at least 24 hours.

Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the pint into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami, securing the outer bowl lid.

Place bowl apparatus into the Ninja Creami machine, locking it into place. Press the Lite Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to complete.

Re-Spin if needed. Remove the pint from the machine and take a look at the texture. If it looks a bit crumbly, insert it back into the machine and press the Re-spin button.

If the mixture is still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of water or milk and Re-spin once more. It should be smooth and creamy after that.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • I used cherries packed in heavy syrup. If you use cherries packed in juice or light syrup, you may want to add some extra sweetener to the base. Taste it before freezing to see if it needs more sweetness. Keep in mind that the mixture will taste slightly less sweet after freezing.
  • Dark chocolate chips would make a delicious mix-in after spinning, if desired.
  • If you need a dairy-free Ninja Creami dessert, you can use canned coconut cream instead of heavy cream, or omit the cream all together to create a fruity sorbet.
