When I was beginning my career as a registered nurse, I had to occasionally work night shift at the hospital.
Not being a coffee drinker at that time, I was introduced to the wonders of a delicious chai tea latte.
It became my caffeinated beverage of choice, and I’ve loved the flavors ever since!
So when a reader emailed me and asked how to make Ninja Creami chai tea ice cream using a protein shake, I knew I had to do some experimenting!
The result is a high protein, low carb treat that’s rich and creamy, full of the chai spices we all know and love, plus just the right amount of sweetness.
It’s super easy to make, and I’m sure you’ll love this guilt-free dessert!
This is a delicious high protein Ninja Creami recipe that’s a cinch to whip up.
High Protein Ninja Creami Chai Tea Latte Ice Cream
To make this delicious treat, I used an Atkins brand chai tea latte protein shake.
It was easy to find and tasted great on its own, so I knew it would be a great base for an ice cream.
But because I wanted to ensure the result wasn’t too icy, I added some 2% milk and a bit of sugar-free vanilla instant pudding mix.
I love making Ninja Creami recipes with pudding mix, because it adds some sweetness and acts as a binder for the ice cream, giving it a silky smooth texture.
I also added a bit of vanilla extract to enhance the flavors even more.
The resulting ice cream is a delightfully simple treat that you can feel good about!

(Full printable recipe card is located below)
Mix the base. In a Ninja Creami pint container, combine chai tea protein shake, milk, vanilla extract, and pudding mix.
Whisk until well-combined and the pudding mix has dissolved.
Freeze. Close the lid on the pint container and transfer to a level surface in your freezer. Freeze for at least 24 hours.
Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the container in the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine and lock the outer bowl lid into place.
Secure the outer bowl into the Ninja Creami ice cream machine, locking into place. Press the Lite Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to complete.
Check texture. Remove the ice cream from the machine and check its texture. If it appears a bit crumbly, insert it back into the machine and press the Re-spin button.
If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of milk to the ice cream and Re-spin once more.
It should be nice and creamy once it’s ready!
Notes and Adaptations:
- I used the Atkins brand chai tea latte protein shake. If you have a different brand that you prefer, you can give it a try!
- If you don’t need this to be a low-carb, high-protein ice cream, you can try it with regular pre-made chai tea latte.
