Are you one of those people who can’t get enough of the leftover milk in a bowl of cereal?
There’s something about the sweet cereal milk, which is infused with flavors from the cereal itself, that’s just too good!
Now you can use cereal milk to make ice cream in the Ninja Creami, and it’s super easy.
It’s fun to change up the flavor profiles by using different cereals–Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Frosted Flakes–the sky is the limit!
Cereal-Infused Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami
One of the best things about the Ninja Creami is that you can make countless varieties of ice cream and sorbet.
And you can use ingredients you wouldn’t normally use in most traditional recipes.
That’s what makes the whole process so fun! You can totally customize based on your taste preferences, dietary needs, and more.
For this cereal milk ice cream, you’ll infuse the milk with the cereal flavor, then add a few ingredients to transform it into a rich and creamy treat.
Using instant pudding mix in Ninja Creami recipes is great, because it acts as a binder, plus adds some extra flavor and sweetness that pairs well with the cereal flavor.
Feel free to add pieces of dry cereal either as a mix-in or a topping, for a little bit of crunch!
How to Make Ninja Creami Cereal Milk Ice Cream
It’s super simple to make this recipe with just a few ingredients.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Dry cereal
- Milk (I prefer 2% or whole)
- Heavy cream
- Vanilla instant pudding mix
How to Make it:
(Full printable recipe card is located below)
Soak the cereal. In a small mixing bowl, combine dry cereal and milk, stirring well to coat the cereal.
Place the bowl in the refrigerator and let the mixture steep for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally top ensure the milk is really soaking into the cereal.
Strain the milk. Pour the milk and cereal mixture through a fine mesh sieve, collecting the milk in a large measuring cup or small mixing bowl.
Use a spatula or wooden spoon to press as much milk out of the cereal as possible.
Discard the soggy cereal pieces.
Prepare the ice cream base. To the cereal milk, add vanilla pudding mix and whisk to dissolve.
Next, add the heavy cream and whisk to incorporate. Pour mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container.
Freeze. Close the lid on the pint container. Place it on a level surface in your freezer and freeze for at least 24 hours.
Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the pint into the outer bowl and secure the outer bowl lid.
Place outer bowl assembly into the Ninja Creami machine and lock it into place.
Press the Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to finish.
Re-spin if needed. If the ice cream looks crumbly, you can insert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin button.
If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of milk and Re-spin again. It should be nice and creamy!
Optional Mix-in: If you’d like, you can mix-in pieces of cereal into the ice cream.
To do this, create a well in the center of the ice cream that’s about 1.5-inches wide and extends to the bottom of the pint.
Add 1/4 cup of cereal pieces to the well, then insert the pint back into the machine.
Press the Mix-in button to incorporate.
Alternatively, you can use pieces of cereal as a fun garnish to add a bit of crunch (that’s what I did).
Notes and Adaptations:
- Feel free to use your cereal of choice! Depending on how sweet the cereal is, you may find it necessary to add a bit of sugar to the ice cream base. In that case, once all ingredients are mixed, taste the base and add sweetener a tablespoon at a time until desired sweetness is reached. I used Cinnamon Toast Crunch and didn’t need additional sweetener.
- If you want to make this recipe dairy free, you can use a non-dairy milk of choice (almond milk, oat milk, etc.) and coconut cream instead of heavy cream. Be sure to select a dairy-free cereal as well.
- If enjoying leftovers, you may need to let the ice cream sit out at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften slightly before scooping.
